Sheila Gaquin
As a public school teacher Sheila has worked in some remote and far flung places. She taught for nine years in a remote Eskimo village 200-miles above the Arctic Circle, and spent several years teaching in a two-room schoolhouse on a small island in Puget Sound. Though she is Nationally Certified in Middle-Childhood Education, she has taught all the grades, K-12, including two years in an alternative high school.
Sheila has written for professional journals and websites such as ASCD's Educational Leadership, Teaching Tolerance Magazine, Journey North, and The Global School House. She recently contributed a chapter on teaching writing to struggling students for the book, Breakthroughs in Literacy, by Susan Israel. Child development and education are Sheila's areas of expertise, but she enjoys writing about a wide variety of topics--gardening, travel, natural history, sailing, crafts and more.
